Subclavian catheters associated with fewer bloodstream infections and DVTs than femoral or jugular
The findings support current CDC recommendations to reduce risk of infections by using subclavian sites, but overall suggest that an ideal site for central venous catheter insertion does not exist if mechanical complications are an equal concern, authors said.
