Migraine may be linked to perioperative stroke, hospital readmission
The researchers calculated a predicted absolute risk of 2.4 perioperative ischemic strokes for every 1,000 surgical patients overall, 3.9 for every 1,000 patients with migraine but no aura, and 6.3 for every 1,000 patients with migraine and aura.

Study of Medicare claims finds good outcomes with hospital at home
Only 6.2% of Medicare fee-for-service patients who were hospitalized at home had to be escalated to another setting and 0.5% died during the admission, according to an analysis of 2022 to 2023 claims data. Their 30-day readmission rate was 15.6%.

Discharge checklist and risk assessment helped reduce readmissions after PCI, study finds
The discharge checklist included a sublingual nitroglycerin prescription, confirmation of insurance coverage of antiplatelet agents, and recommendations for timely follow-up. Patients also received links to education videos about chest discomfort and heart failure.
