Routine frailty screening may help predict risk for poor outcomes in critically ill patients
In a study of 175 ICUs in Australia and New Zealand, patients who were frail at ICU admission had an in-hospital mortality rate of 16% compared to 5% in those who were not. Frail patients also had longer lengths of stay in the ICU and hospital.

Individualized nutrition support lowered mortality after heart failure hospitalization
The greatest benefit from an inpatient nutritional intervention was seen in men older than 78 years who had other acute and chronic medical illnesses in addition to heart failure, according to this secondary analysis of a randomized trial in Switzerland.

Outcomes of hospital-level care at home comparable to hospitalization for older adults
A randomized trial of hospital at home found no difference in the proportion of patients who had died or were living at home at six months, although participants who had received care at home were less likely to be in long-term residential care than those who had been hospitalized.
