Withholding antihypertensives around surgery didn't affect vascular complication rate
Patients who didn't take their hypertension medications before and for two days after surgery had a lower incidence of intraoperative hypotension, but no difference in hypotension after surgery compared to those who continued medications.

Better outcomes after IHCA with lidocaine than amiodarone, study finds
In patients with ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) refractory to CPR and defibrillation, use of lidocaine was associated with better 90-day survival and neurological function than amiodarone, according to the retrospective cohort study.

Nine factors associated with risk of cardiac arrest after STEMI in new analysis
In-hospital cardiac arrest occurred in 2.2% of patients hospitalized for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and was less likely in those who received beta-blockers, ticagrelor, or primary percutaneous coronary intervention, an observational Chinese study found.

Hypothermic temperature control did not improve survival after in-hospital cardiac arrest
A randomized controlled trial in Germany that compared 24 hours of mild therapeutic hypothermia to normothermia in comatose resuscitated patients found no difference in survival to discharge or in all-cause survival and functional outcomes at 180 days.

IV fluid bolus during intubation does not improve outcomes in the critically ill
A randomized clinical trial at 11 U.S. ICUs found no significant difference in cardiovascular (CV) collapse or death at 28 days between critically ill adults who received a 500-mL IV bolus before induction of anesthesia for tracheal intubation and those who did not.
