A retrospective study of Spanish patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) found that while worse malnutrition scores were most strongly related to a lower body mass index, moderate or severe malnourishment was seen in between 8.4% and 36.7% of overweight and obese patients.

High-sensitivity cardiac troponin may be useful for early ruleout of MI
A Scottish study found that length of stay decreased and discharge rates increased when a high-sensitivity cardiac troponin I concentration below 5 ng/L at ED presentation was used to rule out myocardial infarction (MI), although the safety of this strategy could not be proven.

Elevated troponin levels associated with increased mortality in all age groups
Troponin was directly associated with mortality in patients without acute coronary syndrome and those with acute coronary syndrome who were managed medically. In patients treated invasively, there was a paradoxical decrease in mortality risk at the highest troponin levels.

Adverse cardiac events rare in chest pain patients treated and discharged by ED
