Heart failure hospitalization increased prescribing of guideline-directed therapy

Intensive treatment may increase adverse events in older adults with elevated blood pressure
Intensive blood pressure treatment in the first 48 hours of hospitalization for a noncardiovascular diagnosis was associated with greater risk of a composite outcome that included cardiac injury, acute kidney injury, and transfer to the ICU.

Withholding antihypertensives around surgery didn't affect vascular complication rate
Patients who didn't take their hypertension medications before and for two days after surgery had a lower incidence of intraoperative hypotension, but no difference in hypotension after surgery compared to those who continued medications.

Patients discharged home after stroke less likely to receive rehab
The study also found that, after stroke, 35.0% of patients received no physical therapy, 48.8% got no occupational therapy, and 61.7% didn't undergo speech therapy. Predictors of whether a patient would get therapy could be identified during stroke hospitalization.
