Latest research, recommendations cover diabetes, clots, and remdesivir in COVID-19
Mortality was lower in diabetes patients given sitagliptin at admission for COVID-19, ACP practice points support remdesivir, acquired thrombophilia does not predict clots, cardiac arrest survival is low, and admissions for other conditions were still way down over the summer.

Pulmonary embolisms often found in patients with acute COPD exacerbations
Patients who were found to have a pulmonary embolism more frequently reported pleuritic chest pain or had signs of cardiac failure, while signs of respiratory infection were associated with lower likelihood of pulmonary embolism.

Azithromycin may reduce treatment failure for acute COPD exacerbations
Among patients hospitalized for an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 49% of those who received adjunct therapy with azithromycin had COPD treatment failure by three months versus 60% of those who did not.
