Studies look at outcomes with drug use and heart failure, infective endocarditis
Almost 10% of patients with acute heart failure tested positive for drug use, a French study found, while an analysis of U.S. patients who injected drugs and underwent surgery for infective endocarditis found that 79% had relapsed and 68% had died by five years.

Most buprenorphine prescriptions not continued during hospitalization, VA study finds
An analysis of patients who had active buprenorphine prescriptions before a medical or surgical admission to a Veterans Administration (VA) hospital in 2018 to 2020 found that only 74.3% received a prescription for the drug in the 60 days after discharge.
