Heparin dosing for COVID-19 inpatients, expert perspectives on boosters
Two new trials offered some support for therapeutic anticoagulation in inpatients with elevated d-dimer levels. Antithrombotic therapy didn't prove helpful for outpatients with COVID-19. FDA advisors, an ACP/Annals forum, and recent research addressed vaccine effectiveness and boosters.

Advance care planning assessed, therapeutic heparin debated in recent COVID-19 articles
Along with an analysis of the pre-existing conditions of patients who died of COVID-19 and a point/counterpoint on use of heparin in ward patients, the latest inpatient COVID-19 research included negative trials of losartan and a potential monoclonal antibody.

Mixed news on anticoagulation; new data on myocarditis, postexposure prophylaxis
Full-dose anticoagulation appeared to help hospitalized COVID-19 patients who weren't critically ill but not the critically ill, trials showed. Postvaccine myocarditis and pericarditis were investigated by a study, while new data and an FDA authorization supported postexposure prophylaxis for some patients.

COVID-19 research focused on anticoagulation, vaccine-induced thrombocytopenia
Two new studies support prophylactic, rather than therapeutic, anticoagulation for COVID-19 patients, and case reports provide more information about vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia.

New data on tocilizumab, convalescent plasma, anticoagulation for COVID-19
Recent studies found that tocilizumab was potentially harmful for ICU patients, indicated that convalescent plasma works better with higher antibody titers delivered earlier, and offered conflicting findings on anticoagulation. Other research compared mortality from COVID-19 over time.
