Antiplatelet therapy linked to increased risk of post-pleural procedure bleeding
Although patients on antiplatelet therapy were at increased risk of bleeding, including serious bleeding, during the 24 hours following a bedside pleural procedure compared with controls, rates of bleeding and severe bleeding were low, a French study found.

CHA2DS2-VASc score of 1 may merit anticoagulation with new agents
Researchers calculated that patients with a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 1 had an annual stroke risk of 1.61%, above the risk cutoff of 0.9% to benefit from novel oral anticoagulants but below the 1.7% cutoff for warfarin.

Inpatient mortality from major bleeds lower in patients on DOACs than warfarin
Intracranial hemorrhages, especially subdural hematomas, comprised a higher proportion of major bleeding in patients on warfarin, while those on direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) had a higher proportion of gastrointestinal bleeds.

Fewer than 1% of ED patients with syncope found to have PE in retrospective analysis
