SDOH data collected for varied reasons including curriculum development, quality improvement
A review found that food security or malnutrition was the social determinant of health (SDOH) most commonly screened for among patients hospitalized on medicine services, followed by housing, transportation, employment, education, income, functional status and disability, and social support.

Care coordination program linked to reduced readmission rates in large health system
A study of 21 hospitals in an integrated health system in California found that a postdischarge intervention targeted at patients at 25% or higher predicted risk of 30-day readmission or mortality was associated with decreased rates of readmission, but not mortality, in the 30 days after discharge.

The bundle included head-of-bed elevation, use of subglottic secretion drainage endotracheal tubes, oral care, chlorhexidine mouth care, and daily spontaneous awakening and breathing trials.

National survey finds that 50% of large IM residency programs have hospitalist rotations

Bundle compliance increased, mortality decreased under New York sepsis regulations
Under “Rory's Regulations,” use of the three-hour bundle for severe sepsis and septic shock increased from 53.4% to 64.7%, while six-hour bundle compliance increased from 23.9% to 30.8%.
