Hospital performance on one stroke quality measure may predict performance on others
Hospitals that performed well on one of four indicators—carotid imaging, antithrombolytic therapy, treatment in a stroke unit, or discharge to inpatient rehabilitation—tended to also perform well on the other three, and the reverse was also true, with poor performance on one predicting poor performance on the others.

Two in five HF patients not on guideline-directed medical therapy at discharge
A study of Veterans Affairs hospitals found that 42% of patients hospitalized for heart failure (HF) in 2013 to 2019 were not prescribed all guideline-recommended medications at discharge, and those receiving care at urban hospitals were even less likely to receive the treatments.

Infective endocarditis increases ischemic stroke risk for up to two years
The risk of ischemic stroke was highest during the first four weeks after an infective endocarditis diagnosis, and it was lower in patients on anticoagulation, according to the Danish registry study.

The PSI and CURB-65 work in patients with pneumonia from SARS-CoV-2, one study found, while another estimated stroke rates in COVID-19 inpatients. Research on breakthrough infections showed that full vaccination provided more protection than previous infection, among other findings.
